This Week.

I have had one of those weeks. One of those weeks you wonder how you will ever get through. I am feeling a little more confident seeing as today is Thursday which means I am more then half way there. Don't worry, nothing terrible has happened. I have just had one million emotions running through me every second that I think it has worn my body out and left me feeling simply flat.

Is it selfish if I feel like I need a holiday even though we were only in Indonesia 3 months ago? I need something positive to count down to. Some type of distraction. I have a few in mind but I am stuck in this mood and lack serious motivation.

This weekend can go either way for me. It could be our best one yet or it could go down in history as one of the worst ones yet. I am crossing everything and hoping with every ounce of me that is is the best one yet. Please.

This is a pity party for one only. I am allowed to feel sorry for myself every now and then right?

The Vege Patch.

Some photos of our Vege patch going strong in the cold months. Can't wait for all the new things to be ready. In addition to the below we have snow peas, onions, brussels sprouts, strawberries and a lime tree.

The arch at our wedding.

I love having fresh herbs and veges every night and for every season. One day when we get our farm house I am going to have a garden just like Jamie Oliver's, even with the chickens!

Last Weekend.

Last weekend was a nice relaxing and enjoying our home sort of weekend. We spent the nights cooking dinner and watching movies on the couch and the days doing things around the house. We planted the winter crop of vegetables in the vege garden. I will put some photos up later. I had acupuncture which is my latest obsession. If you haven't tried it, you should. We also started digging out the yard where we will be doing our extension. I can not wait for that to start. And....

I faced the cold morning and went to watch Daniel play soccer.

Daniel put me to work at the tip. Thank goodness it was windy so the tip didn't smell.

We visited this babe (our nephew).

And we spend the nights like this, not moving.

Seriously, who doesn't love weekends?

Friday Favourites.

Boots. I love them. Especially in winter.

These are all from Wittner, except the Hunter wellies. That was by total accident they just had all my favourites. Makes shopping easy!

HAPPY FRIDAY.

Football.

Last night was the first round of the State of Origin football game. Its tradition for us and two other couple friends of ours that we rotate the three games and have one at each of our houses. Last night was at our place and it was so fun! Its also tradition that Daniel makes his famous Pizzas. These pizzas are so good that I was so distracted eating them that I didn't get a photo of the finished product. Some serious goodness right there. Even though our team didn't win it was still so much fun and its not over yet! I love traditions and I love having such good friends to have them with. I did manage to take a few photos.....

Freezing my butt off and getting as close as possible to the fire pit.

Daniel and I in our Blue (NSW) attire.

Tupac also enjoying the fire.

Our veranda (Daniel's famous projector set up) and various heaters.

The only photo I got of the Pizza.

One of the things I love about writing this blog is that sometimes while mid way through writing a post I become overwhelmed with gratitude for the simple things. Things that I have never really thought twice about until I put them on paper (so to speak) and it just reminds me how lucky I am. Right now I am having one of those moments. I am so lucky to have such great friends. Friends that Daniel and I share together. I don't take things for granted like I used to. And for that, blog, I am thankful.

On that note, this post is finished.

Hello Husband.

Daniel recently purchased a motorbike and maybe it is the whole bad boy vibe boys on bikes give but I am liking this biker husband. Although I might be slightly jealous of the attention the bike is receiving. Hmm.

My Favourite Time of the Day

On the weekend breakfast is my favourite meal. I lovelovelove poached eggs. Seriously I just want to scream about my love for the runny yolk! Weirdo, yes. Normally I will make it and sometimes we will go out. But this weekend something wonderful happened, we found this old homestead only minutes from our house and discovered amongst the beautiful gardens, fruit trees and the incredibly gorgeous old house a little cafe. And you guessed it, they do breakfast! Not just breakfast but a good breakfast! We are in love and already want to buy the place. If only.

We will definitely become regular customers of that place. It was such a beautiful day we walked around the gardens and dreamed of when our fruit trees get as big as theirs! I cant wait.

They Say....

I really hope this is true because I have been waiting a long time.

Hello Winter

As I write this I am lying here in my sickly state feeling very sorry for myself. I am sipping on non stop lemon tea with honey in the hope that this feeling of swallowing sharpness will vacate my body. Yes, that is a pile of dirty washing in the corner of my room, don't judge me.

This morning I had a conference call I couldn't miss regardless of my husky voice so I put Tupac out the back so there would be no barking interruptions. When my call had finished I went out to let Tupac back inside the warm house only to realise he was no longer there. I quickly ran to the side to see that Mr. Naughty had pushed the wood from under the gate away and ran right on out. I freaked out and called Daniel all while throwing some clothes on so I could run out the front to look for him. Thankfully he was just across the road laying in the grass. I yelled out to him and he just looked at me while continuing to lay there and wait for me to run over and carry him home. Such a naughty boy. And far too much stress for my sick body to handle today. I am very glad he was ok though. I think we both know he has it too good here so he would never go too far.

I am now going to move myself onto the lounge, just to mix things up a bit (and so I can get a reality TV fix).

Hope your day is much nicer then mine.

Cluckiness

I am in love with rockers and gliders in nurseries. When we get to decorate a nursery for our little people I am definitely putting one in. These are my favourites.

Plus having a chair in the nursery is just another place to put a super cute and adorable cushion. You can find all these chairs at www.tottini.com

Mothers Day

Mothers was day was busy for us as we tried to squish both families into the one day. It was exhausting but as always worth the extra effort. I am so grateful for both our mums and have so much love for both of them. My mum has always managed to be my mother when I need one and my best friend when I need one and by doing this she is such an example. There is so much I have learnt from my mum that I can not wait to put to the test within my own family when they come along.
I also took mothers day as an opportunity to give Daniel a heads up on everything I want to happen when I am a mum on mothers day including breakfast in bed…..
I hope all the mums and future mums had a wonderful day.

Two.

Last Monday was our two year wedding anniversary. We had a yummy dinner at home on our anniversary and then on Saturday night we went out to dinner to an amazing Japanese restaurant that our friends had recommended. When I say amazing I mean incredibly amazing. We love Japanese food so we had high hopes and let me tell you, we were not left disappointed. It was beautiful. It was such a nice night. We rarely get dressed up and go on nice romantic dates these days. I think I really want to get back into that. We ended the night with a tub EACH of Ben & Jerrys. Yum, so glad they sell this in Australia now! To top it all off Daniel surprised me with the most beautiful dress ring that I have been wanting for so long. I am in love and was very sad to say see you later to it while it gets resized. Don’t worry I snuck a few shots before they took it away.
I will try to hold back on the sappiness but I have to tell you how much I love my husband. He is so much more then just my best friend. I am so grateful to be his wife and so grateful that I am lucky enough to experience this amazing event that love is. Everyday is worth it when I know I get to come home to everything that he is. I love him.

Furry Friday

It is really strange for me to say this but I am loving the fur look this feels like winter autumn. I am absolutely not a fur person but right now I desperately want all of the above. It must be the cold air making my personality change slightly. I literally want all of these things, right now!

1. / 2. / 3. / 4. / 5. / 6.

Happy Friday.

This was a good week. And so was last weekend for that matter. Daniel went away with my brothers and cousin for a weekend of surfing so my sister came over and kept me company. We watched two seasons of the TV show GREEK (Is college in the US really like that?), we went shopping and cut our trip short as we were spending too much! It was loads of fun but I was extremely happy when Daniel finally came home! Three nights away is three nights too many. On top of everything it was our two year wedding anniversary on Monday. So I made a yummy dinner and I just have to share the recipe with you for it - Beetroot Couscous because it was seriously amazing…yum! We are going out to dinner tomorrow night to celebrate officially so check back later for more anniversary details. I am also very excited nervous as I have made my first acupuncture appointment. I have heard great things about it so my fingers are crossed it will do me some good. Once I get over the whole thought of acupuncture I am sure I will be fine. This Sunday is also mothers day so we get to catch up with both sides of the family which will definitely make for a busy but good day.

Anyway, I will be back later today with some Friday Favourites but in the mean time here is the recipe for my scrumptious anniversary dinner.

Beetroot Couscous (serves 4)
1 cup vegetable stock
1 cup couscous
2 tbs olive oil
1 red onion, thinly sliced
2 tbs each balsamic vinegar & lemon juice
450g can baby beets, (drained), cut into 2cm cubes
1/2 cup chopped flat-leaf parsley, plus extra whole leaves to garnish

Bring stock to the boil in a pan. Remove from heat, then slowly stir in couscous. Cover with a tea towel, stand for 5 minutes, then fluff grains with a fork.
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a frypan over medium-low heat. Cook onion for 10 minutes, stirring, until softened and just starting to caramelise. Stir in vinegar, juice, beets and parsley. Season, then stir through couscous. Serve with extra parsley.

Remember Me?

Life has been a little a lot busy of late. I am looking forward to 3pm tomorrow when my working week is done and dusted and I can enjoy the weekend. Daniel is going away with my brothers and cousins to the beach house for a surfing weekend so my sister is coming to stay and we are going to have a super girly weekend...with a little shopping. Shhh.

Until I have more time to update you on life here are a few happy snaps.

Daniel dressed up for his friends 'Hair Metal' 30th birthday.

Our first lemonade...... Ready to eat this weekend!

The start of our very first passionfruit, so looking forward to these babies.

It was ANZAC day so we made ANZAC cookies. Mmmmm,

There has been lots of leopard print lately.

Tupac deciding the best place to hang out is on the clean washing.
